The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) in Jordan supports vulnerable communities by promoting dignity, inclusion, and resilience. Operating in both refugee and host community settings, LWF Jordan delivers integrated programs that focus on sustainable livelihoods, quality services, and protection. The program prioritizes skills development and job creation through vocational training and engagement in climate-smart agriculture, green jobs, and the digital economy.

LWF also invests in community-based psychosocial support and education services by establishing safe, inclusive spaces where children, adolescents, and caregivers can access learning and protection. These services are delivered through the Aman Community Centers in Zarqa, Irbid, and Za’atari Camp, which serve as local hubs for empowerment, learning, and social cohesion.

Through these interventions, LWF fosters well-being, community cohesion, and long-term self-reliance. The program is implemented in close collaboration with local partners, civil society organizations, and government institutions, ensuring relevance, ownership, and sustainability.

LWF Jordan’s work is grounded in a human rights-based approach, emphasizing participation, accountability, and non-discrimination in all aspects of programming.

LWF’s work in Jordan is built on trust, continuity, and deep local partnerships; ensuring that every initiative and activity reflects the needs and hopes of the communities we serve.”

Local voices, local actions

Bahader, a woman with an arts diploma, turned her passion for farming into the “Green Hydroponic Farm,” starting with a rented plastic greenhouse. She later expanded her work by transforming her rooftop into a space for growing medicinal plants and developing natural drying techniques.

Through LWF Jordan’s livelihoods and entrepreneurship programs—including a community mushroom cultivation project—Bahader gained essential skills in budgeting, marketing, and risk assessment. What began as a personal project has grown into a community-focused initiative, where she now mentors other young women to pursue sustainable agriculture.

“Farming gave me more than food—it gave me purpose,” she says. Today, she cultivates not only plants, but hope and opportunity for others.

“Breaking the silence is the first step toward healing. Speaking up leads to solutions; silence causes burnout. In resilience groups, we find strength in shared experiences and mutual support.”
