South Sudan faced a devastating civil war in December 2013, which continued into 2016. LWF South Sudan has adopted a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach to provide support to 255,000 individuals annually through various initiatives. These efforts encompass education, protection, livelihood improvement, food security, promotion of human rights, shelter & non food items, water sanitation & hygiene projects. Additionally, we remain committed to offering emergency assistance to those in need.

"I have learnt a lot of skills and acquired enough knowledge in the procurement department that I can comfortably work in any other organization in the same role or any other related role that has been entrusted to me"

After receiving fishing kits from LWF, the fishing activity improved and the standard of living in Akuai-deng Village of Bor South County, Jonglei state, South Sudan have improved greatly after they started fishing. Many residents of this area have embraced fishing. Anyieth Gai Kou, 35, lives in Akuai-deng Village with his wife and is a beneficiary supported with fishing kits by LWF. Everyone was given a full fishing kit containing a net, a fishing lure, a fishing rod and a fishing line. "I am thankful. In just a few months, the income started increasing." he explained

Anyieth Gai Kou explains: "The income I get from selling fish is to cater for food, medicines, school fees, clothes and other basic needs for the family". Selling fish is still a challenge as the roads leading to the market are often inaccessible, but Anyieth Gai Kou keeps his hopes high: "I promise to continue despite challenges".

"I am glad that I feel like an expert trainer on menstrual hygiene and women empowerment. This knowledge is not only for my community but also for myself. As a role model, I will always speak up for the girlchild and ensure women are represented at all levels of decision making and especially in trainings to empower them."
