LWF has supported people in Uganda for 45 years. It currently has 7 subprograms across the districts of Adjumani, Kamwenge, Kikuube, Kitgum & Pader, Lamwo, Luuka, and Obongi, with our head offices in Kampala. LWF Uganda is implementing a range of projects in the districts of Adjumani, Agago, Amuru, Arua, Iganga Kamwenge, Kampala, Kikuube, Kitgum, Koboko, Lamwo, Luuka, Madi Okollo, Mayuge, Moyo, Nebbi, Obongi, Pader, Packwach, Terego, Wakiso, Yumbe, and Zombo.

LWF Uganda provides emergency assistance to refugees of conflict in neighboring countries. We provide water sanitation and hygiene assistance, shelter, social protection, psychosocial support, environmental conservation, sexual reproductive health and livelihoods to refugees from South Sudan in Palorinya, Palabek, Rhino, Imvepi and Adjumani settlements and refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo in the Kyangwali, Rwamwanja, Kyaka and Nakivale refugee settlements. We strive to alleviate poverty, resettle those displaced as a result of the insurgency, and elevate the standards of living of both refugees and Ugandans. As embedded in our mission, we seek to eradicate human suffering by supporting people to access basic needs, achieve their full potential, and claim their universal rights.

LWF Uganda's work has three strategic areas of intervention; Livelihoods, Quality Services, Protection and Social Cohesion as specified in the country strategy for 2019-2024. The country program also focuses on Gender Justice and Climate Justice as key principles to integrate in every project and programme. Our advocacy work from Local to Global focuses on women’s rights, child protection, land rights, and refugees’ rights.

"After losing everything back home, my children dropped out of school because I could not afford it. In April 2023, five of my children benefited from the cash assistance for scholastic materials from LWF. I am very happy now since my children are in school with all school requirements and I do not use money for food to pay school fees"

Before Nighty Ayot was selected as one of the beneficiaries of menstrual kits, which LWF distributed at her school and the surrounding community, the menstruation period was a nightmare to her. The 24-year-old South Sudan refugee living in Northern Uganda's Palabek Settlement in Lamwo district says before they got the kits, maintaining self-hygiene during her periods was a big challenge. However, menstrual kits have changed all that. The kits come with two menstrual cups, two knickers and a bar of soap.
